Good things have been happening in Mazkeret Batya recently. The old picturesque colony (moshava) proudly presents quality restaurants and cafés such as the Alma bistro which is located in the Mazkeret Batya Museum complex. Alma’s special limestone structure served as a dairy barn at the end of the 19th century and has been renovated and reconstructed in order to maintain its old European atmosphere. With its flourishing fruit trees, colorful flowerbeds and clean classic design, Alma emanates an atmosphere of rural tranquility that is disconnected from the pressures of daily life. The chef, Ido Dayan, has created an Italian menu that combines fresh quality materials with meticulous and creative dishes, which go well with the romantic atmosphere of the place. Among the recommended starters here one can find a baked beetroot with hot goat cheese, crispy coating, roasted Hazel nuts and basil leaves and a bruschetta Italiano. Among Alma’s recommended pasta dishes are the puttanesca, fungi, aglio olio, eggplant and rosé. The names and flavors roll on the tongue with pleasure.
The children also receive special attention here with a tasty pasta dish, after which they can have fun in Alma’s pleasant courtyard. The gnocchi is hand made, it is light and melts in one’s mouth, and can be ordered in different sauces. And it cannot be an Italian restaurant without a pizza. Whether you choose the Colony pizza (Pizzat HaMoshava), a piquant pizza or a white pizza, the flavors will be excellent and diverse. The excellent tiramisu which you have been dreaming about for a long time or the panna cotta in peanut caramel sauce will seal the meal with a wonderful taste. It is recommended before or after your meal to take a stroll around the colony and enjoy its atmosphere.
