Story through
The International Bird Watching Center of the Jordan Valley, which is located in the kibbutz of Kfar Ruppin, offers a variety of guided nature and bird watching tours (including some overnight weekend tours). Among the tours that are offered here are some that go to explore the fields of the valley as well as the fishing ponds, that have exotic name such as "the birds’ mating song”, "a house visit at the barn owl’s” ”changing shifts”- a tour in which one watches the birds that are getting ready for their night’s sleep as opposed to those that prepare themselves for their nightly activity. At the International Bird Watching Center of the Jordan Valley in the kibbutz of Kfar Ruppin one can find nesting boxes for barn owls, a ringing station and numerous cormorants, pelicans, kites, bee-eaters, various types of herons, flamingos and many more species of birds. It is especially recommended to come here for a visit during the early hours of the morning or toward sunset, when the landscape becomes dramatic, and the birds give their show (during season).

Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, located in the flourishing Maayanot Valley not far from Bet She'an, has recently become a world class leader in organic agriculture and economics.  At Sde Eliyahu, where land and nature become an active part of religious Jewish life, you can join one of many unforgettable tours that will familiarize you with nature and show you how nature can be put to use for a better and healthier life.  During the Bio Tour, you will head out to the fields and vineyards and hike between the date palms and the magical landscape, learn about organic agriculture, discover an assortment of ecological solutions that prevent further damage to nature, determine what exactly owls do at night – while meeting a special surprise on the way, all while saving the best for last – exploring the kibbutz's integrated biological pest control solutions.  There you will meet the buff-tailed bumble bee and various species of insects and sterilized fruit flies, all used to minimize or replace the traditional spraying of pesticides on the fruits and vegetables that we eat.  These insects are raised and marketed in the Bio Bee plant at the kibbutz.  The guide's explanations are informative, professional and detailed.  Following the tour, you are invited to enjoy the cafe located adjacent to the Visitors' Center, to sip high quality organic coffee and to purchase organic products from the kibbutz and its vicinity.
During the school year, the tours are for groups only, though in the summer they are open to families in groups of twelve or more (additional participants may also join).  Tours take place Sunday to Thursday at 4:00 pm and Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 am.  Visitors may also arrange a meat lunch in the dining hall of the Kibbutz or enjoy a dairy lunch at the on-site cafe.

Koalas, kangaroos, cassowaries, emus and other exotic animals which have arrived straight from Australia inhabit Gan-Guroo at kibbutz Nir David. The Gan-Guroo is the only place outside of Australia where kangaroos roam freely and the visitors can pet and feed them. The visitors at the Gan-Guroo are also welcome to walk around among Australian vegetation, look at the koalas that lazily climb up the eucalyptus trees and watch them at their feeding time, see strange looking birds such as the cassowaries and emus – that can no longer fly – and feed the colorful Lory parrots.
