With its cool water brooks, the high tree tops that keep everything fresh and shaded, the wonderful picturesque landscape, the antiquities and archeology- Tel Dan (Dan Mound) is considered to be one of the most beautiful Nature Reserves in Israel. Tel Dan (Dan Mound) was inhabited already in the Bronze Age and it was known as Canaanite Laish or Biblical Dan. After the dividing of the Kingdom of Israel, Dan became an important religious center, and it was in Dan that King Jeroboam erected one of the two golden calves. At the top of Tel Dan (Dan Mound) one can find the remains of an ancient ritual platform and a holograms exhibition which presents the site. On the slopes of Tel Dan is found a gate and a small section of a wall from the Iron Age, and near this gate is an impressive arched mud bricks gate which is dated to the Middle Bronze Age. This is the earliest intact mud bricks archway in the world.

Sometimes the smallest, unfamiliar and unadvertised places offer a different, original and almost underground-like experience. This is what Beit Ussishkin (Ussishkin House) is like. Located in Kibbutz Dan, Beit Ussishkin is a museum dedicated entirely to local Zoology, Archeology and Botany. Following a visit to this museum, you will find out that the regions of the Galilee, Golan and Hula Valley are fairly rich in fascinating finds. This small and modest museum displays tens of mounted animals, including birds and mammals, together with a visual presentation of their habitats. There is also an impressive butterfly collection here and more surprises from the Zoology field. The Botanic and Archeological sections of the Beit Ussishkin museum are smaller but no less interesting. Here one can learn about Biblical times in the nearby Tel Dan (Dan Mound). This lovely museum is housed inside a special stone house which was built here during the 1950s.

This trail is one of the few places In Israel which can give a completely wrong idea about the state of the water situation in Israel. Until recently the most beautiful part of the Hermon Stream (the Banias) was inaccessible to travelers. In order to allow people to visit it, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority created a hanging bridge- an eighty meters long steel bridge paved with wood which passes above the stream and makes it possible to travel inside a narrow canyon between vertical basalt walls. Along the trail one can enjoy a particularly rich stream flora and among it a wonderful green jungle of oak, tabor and common oak trees, and, above all, view from up close the amazing flow of water, cascades and the Banias Waterfall- the strongest in Israel- which reminds one of other countries. The Hanging Trail starts at the lookout area which is located near the Banias Waterfall Park.
