The golden desert spaces are spread in front of you. The desert wind blows lightly and you swing in a hammock in perfect tranquility, next to the charming mud built hut at the Yemei Midbar (Desert Days) complex in Tzukim, west of the Arava Road. Rinat and Yair are a couple who was looking for a different way of life from that of the city, a way of life which will combine a closeness to the land and working with one’s hands together with their love for hospitality and the environment. They left their office jobs in the city and built in Tzukim, which is in the area of the central Arava region, Yemei Midbar- an ecological vacation village that combines guest huts with the feeling of an overnight stay at an ancient khan which integrates well into the desert landscape. Yemei Midbar is the perfect place for connecting with nature, the sun, and at night with the moon and stars. At the Yemei Midbar complex you will find nine mud huts which the couple has built with their own hands and which show a love for the environment in each corner.
The huts at Yemei Midbar were built using a green method which is based on homemade mud bricks and is well adapted to the local weather conditions. Each of the huts has a double bed, a coffee making facility, a shower with hot water at all times and a sitting area. From each of the hut’s windows one can see the tranquil desert views. Toward the evening one can sit next to the bonfire in the private courtyard under the twinkling stars. Your hosts will make sure in advance that you will have wood for the fire. Each of the huts at Yemei Midbar can host up to six people. You can prepare your meals in the well equipped central kitchen which has a refrigerator, a BBQ, a wood oven for baking pita bread and pizzas and cast iron potjie pots. One can order excellent breakfasts and dinners here that are served in the Khan. In the right season it is recommended to dip in the three rounded shaded water pools that flow one into the other here and are designed in the shape of a desert cistern.
