David and Pola (Paula) Ben-Gurion's "hut” in Sde Boker kibbutz, was their authentic home since they were accepted as kibbutz members in 1953. A visit to the "hut” gives one an interesting glimpse into Ben-Gurion's routine life as a leader and especially as a private man in his home. In here one can learn a lot about the man and about his world view through presents that he received and with which he has chosen to decorate his home, pictures and sculptures of world leaders, and especially through his work room with its library of 5,000 books. In a hut adjacent to his home, which in the past served his guards, an exhibition is displayed which presents the special connection between Ben-Gurion and the Negev and his vision of the Negev, which he regarded as Israel's frontier to be settled and to which he has moved in order to provide a personal example to others.
