On the surface its name is not especially inviting, but this museum, located at the heart of the town of Zikhron Ya'akov, adds a special and exciting dimension to the story of the First Aliyah (the immigration into Israel, starting in 1882). This was the beginning of a new era in the life of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel. The museum, situated inside a very well preserved historical structure, creates for the visitors a journey into the past, which includes an intimate introduction to the people of that time: the hardships, disappointments, hopes and victories which they have experienced. This journey is created among other things with the help of this museum’s design which features a structured path which presents a historical sequence and includes innovative multi-media presentations. And all of that is accompanied by historical documents, old photographs, beautiful sculptures, authentic tools, the possibility of looking through the newspapers of the time and more.
