Gamla is an ancient Jewish city and a nature reserve, located in the center of the Golan Heights and combining landscape, nature and ancient magnificence. In this nature reserve there is an observation point from which one can view the rare birds of prey which live in the reserve. On the northern bank of the Gamla Stream is another observation point, which looks over the fabulous Gamla waterfall, which is the highest in Israel. The remains of the ancient city of Gamla are located at the foot of this observation point and include various public structures, an olive press, a Mikveh (a Jewish ritual bath), the walls of the city and the remains of the oldest known synagogue in Israel (thought to date from the late 1st century BCE).
