The terraced Haifa market of Talpiot, which spreads over three levels at Hadar HaCarmel, started in the beginning of the 1940s. Its aim was to provide competition to the Arab market of the lower part of Haifa which specialized in agricultural products. In the beginning, the Talpiot Market worked inside a well-designed structure planned by the architect Moshe Gerstel and later on it added to itself some of the areas in the surrounding streets. Today, one can find at the Talpiot Market various ethnic delicacies, alcoholic drinks, fish, olives, pastries, meat, sewing materials and a lot of vegetables, fruits and herbs. Do not miss out on going down into the colorful and lovely underground section of the Talpiot Market.
