The Glass Factory Museum (HaMizgaga)

The beautiful stone structure of the Glass Factory Museum (HaMizgaga) in Nahsholim (near the Tantura Beach), started its life in 1891 as a glass bottle factory for the Carmel Mizrachi Winery. After it was closed, it stood empty about eight decades until it was decided to renovate it and open in it an archeological museum which will present excavated finds from the land and sea in the area. Among the permanent exhibitions at the Glass Factory Museum (HaMizgaga) is "Dreams of Glass” (remains from this place’s first incarnation, including broken glass bottles, oven bricks, tiles and oil lamps), "Treasures of the Sea” (anchors, jars, metal bars and coins), "The Color Purple” (dedicated to the producimg of the light blue and purple colors by the Phoenicians in ancient days), "The Diver’s Room” (an experiential space which simulates a dive and demonstrates marine archeological excavation), "The Women of Dor” (ornaments, cosmetics, cooking and backing instruments and ancient weaving tools) and "A Night in May” (a documentation of an evening in May 1799 from the voyage of Napoleon to the Land of Israel).
