Karnei Hittin (Horns of Hattin) National Park has an illustrious history and the winter and spring do it good (the summer here might be difficult). Beside the fact that Karnei Hittin is an extinct volcano with twin peaks (which resemble horns), in 1187 the army of the Muslim leader Saladin defeated the Crusaders armies here. The Karnei Hittin National Park spreads over 2,740 dunams and offers views of Basalt rocks in part, views of the Arbel Valley, the remains of fortifications from various historical periods and communication trenches from the days of the Israeli War of Independence. At the edge of the Karnei Hittin National Park is found the site of Nabi Shu'ayb (the tomb of the Prophet Jethro) that is sacred to the Druze. One can get to the Karnei Hittin National Park, which is located between Tiberias and the Golani Junction, from road number 77.
