Ofakim Park, which some have tried to turn into a National Park (but so far unsuccessfully), offers spending a leisurely and pleasant half a day, with its highlight being a visit to the nearby Patish fortress, which is situated on the top of a high hill. This is one of three Turkish fortresses which were built in the Western Negev region in the 1890s and were meant to help with the keeping of the order in the region. It is a large and impressive structure with arched windows, from which are seen the magnificent views of the whole area (it is not possible to enter the structure). Down hill, on the eastern slopes of the hill, is a vast cave which probably served as an old quarry. One can also find in Ofakim Park the Ofakim Well and Patish Stream. Ofakim Park is situated to the east of the city of Ofakim and it includes amusement facilities for children, shaded picnic areas and lawns.
