Kibbutz Negba, which is located in the Negev, was founded as a Tower and Stockade settlement in 1939 by HaShomer HaTzair youth movement. During the Israeli War of Independence, heavy battles took place here between the members of the kibbutz and the Egyptian Army. Despite the strong attacks of the Egyptian Army, which had airplanes, tanks and cannons, the Egyptians did not manage to capture the kibbutz and the members of the kibbutz managed to hold on to it. At the Open Museum in Kibbutz Negba one can find the kibbutz’s first tractor, the Tower and Stockade site, the water tower pierced with bullet and shell holes from the battles and an Egyptian tank. One can arrive at the Open Museum in Kibbutz Negba from road number 3 from Kiryat Malakhi to Hodiya Junction.
