Nahal Tamar (Tamar Stream), which flows over about 15 kilometers in the north-east of the Negev region, provides travelers with a concentrated kilometer and a half of desert views and especially enjoyable challenges. The Tamar Stream itself stretches all the way to Nahal Tzin (Tzin Stream), not far from the Dead Sea Works plant. The Tamar Stream trail takes less than two hours and besides the beautiful marlstone views, it offers a climb down metal steps that are set into the rock and on rope ladders. As this is a canyon, most of the Tamar Stream trail takes place in the shade, and thus it is pleasant to walk here even during relatively hot days and enjoy sliding down the cool rock steps. The Tamar Stream trail is not circular and thus one needs a second vehicle. One should not travel here when there is a danger of flooding. Arrival through road number 25. Park at the parking area that is situated about a kilometer and a half west of the Arava Junction. A second vehicle should wait at the Arava Junction’s Gas Station.
