Rubin Stream National Park – The Sorek Stream Estuary

So many points of interest await the travelers where the Sorek Stream pours into the Mediterranean Sea (and a little before that as well). The Sorek Stream Estuary, or in its official name "Rubin Stream National Park”, offers an excellent combination of Sea, golden sands, dunes that call one to roll down from their tops, varied nature, landscape observation points, and, of course, a walk along the stream, which has truthfully known better days, but lately has been going through major rehabilitation works. The long trail, which is marked in black, reaches the Mediterranean Sea and takes about an hour or more in each direction, passes by sites such as the Turtles Island (on and next to which live soft shell turtles), the Cormorants Observation Point, Me’arat HaGamadim (the Dwarves Caves) near the seashore and the lookout over the sea, which is done from the top of the tall limestone cliff. The Rubin Stream National Park offers several trails, all leaving from Hurshat HaTsanhanim (the Paratroopers Grove) which is on road number 4311 (which leads to kibbutz Palmahim). All trails are also well marked and offer informative signs about the fauna and flora of the area.
