There are not many tourism sites in the city of Lod, which makes great efforts to improve its image. The Church of Saint George is one of Lod’s few tourism attractions, and if you are here, it is recommended to visit it. Here, on Golomb Street, is the Greek Orthodox Church that is named after a Christian martyr who, among other things, is known for fighting dragons. The modest entrance to the Church of Saint George does not reveal the magnificence that awaits the visitor inside it: a beautiful, colorful and impressive space, in the best style of Christian tradition, with lit candles that add to it flickering spots of soft light. After you get your fill of the wall paintings, you can go down into a small underground area in which, according to Christian tradition, Saint George is buried. Also, adjacent to the Church of Saint George, is the active El-Omri Mosque, which houses a large prayer hall, a tall minaret and an impressive light blue dome which is seen to a distance.
