HaTanur (Oven) Waterfall, one of the most impressive waterfalls in Israel, is located in the Nahal Ayoun (Ayoun Stream) Nature Reserve near the pastoral city of Metula. To children’s great joy, HaTanur Waterfall, one of the several waterfalls in the Ayoun Stream, creates a strong spray of tiny water drops. The water flow near a huge rock that is situated at the head of HaTanur Waterfalls. This great rock splits the water’s flow and creates a pretty impressive waterfall that drops from the height of about 30 meters. On its way down, the water passes in a kind of a natural rock chimney, until it arrives to a deep pool. Incidentally, a few years ago a pipe was put here from the Dan springs so that the water will continue to flow in the Ayoun Stream during summer as well. Thus one can arrive here during any season to watch this beautiful waterfall. One can arrive at HaTanur Waterfall using the Nahal Ayoun (Ayoun Stream) Nature Reserve’s "short trail”, which takes less than a leisurely hour’s walk (at the entrance to the Ayoun Stream Nature Reserve you will be given an informative brochure which includes a detailed map).
