The Tomb of Rabbi Judah the Prince (Yehudah HaNasi) in Tzippori is hidden inside an ancient stone structure with a blue dome. Those who are well-versed in saints’ tombs know that there is an old argument between those who believe that the President of the Sanhedrin (the ancient Israelites’ Supreme Court) and the editor of the Mishnah (the first major written redaction of the Jewish oral traditions) is indeed buried here and those who claim that he is buried at the Beit She'arim National Park. Either way, it is a modest structure, relative to the greatness of this 3rd century CE man, who is also known as "Rabbeinu HaKadosh” ("our Master, the holy one"), who was a descendant of Hillel the Elder. The structure of the tomb itself combines building in stone and digging in the local rock and it contains several crypts.
Arrival at the Tomb of Rabbi Judah the Prince (Yehudah HaNasi) in Tzippori: from road number 79 turn north to road number 7926, according to the signs to the Tzippori Fortress. The tomb is located a few hundreds of meters north-west of the fortress.
